Pokhara. With the grand Dashain festival approaching, Kaski District Police has implemented a special security plan. According to the District Police Office, 923 police personnel have been deployed across the district to ensure peace and security during the festive season.
SP Navin Karki, Chief of Kaski Police, said that in view of the large gatherings expected during the festival, security checks with the support of sniffer dogs have been launched to prevent theft, robbery, looting, and other criminal incidents. He added that the plan also includes foot patrols in neighborhoods, rural patrols, and regular vehicle patrolling.
SP Karki further informed that ambush-style checkpoints have been set up to control those involved in criminal activities. Market monitoring has also been intensified to curb alcohol-related disturbances, unnecessary noise from motorcycles, gambling, and other disruptive activities. Plain-clothes officers have been deployed as well to reassure the public of safety.
He also stated that police are monitoring public transport to take action against overcharging, carrying passengers beyond seat capacity, and assisting travelers. Vehicle checks have been increased at various points to minimize road accidents during the festive period.
